On Sunday, April 15, 2012, San
Diego Roadster's hosted yet another fine run, and were treated to
outstanding topless sunny weather in the 70's. A Kappa Run took place
just north of San Diego to tour Falkner Winery then cruise Old Town
Temecula twice before reserved seating for lunch at Sorro’s
Mediterranean Grill, table for 20 in the outdoor shaded patio, nice!
South & North meet spots were
set up. A total of 11 vehicles showed (Sky*7 Sol*4) and caravanned North
on I-15 toward their destinations.
A first time Solstice owner joined
us, which had just purchased his vehicle a few weeks earlier and also
his "First Time" driving for several hours with a group. Not to many
automobile experiences match that overall feeling, fall in line, follow,
Kappas in front, behind, along side yours all day, you have to love it!
Also, a Black Turbo Sky with Lambo Doors visiting from Arizona joined
us in this unique driving experience. By the smiles at the conclusion of
the day, the Kappa Family headed their separate ways with another sack
full of memories to hold us over until the next time.

Update! We just signed the contract for the Route 66
Southwest Regional hotel, we sighted over a dozen hotels in and around the Phoenix area and found
one that was (up until 2 months ago) a Four Points Marriott, it’s currently
undergoing an upgrade and re-branding and will become a Double Tree by Hilton
by the time April is here. Because we signed during the transition we were able
to lock in a $79 standard room ($149 Reg) or upgrade to a pool side cabana for $99 ($189 Reg) per
night! We have included in the accommodations package a special parking area up
front of the hotel. There will be a welcome reception by the pool on the
evening of the 6th. This hotel is a great choice it sits just off
the I-17 which has access to all the major highways needed for this Event! Book
early, they only have a limited number of the Pool side cabanas available!
You may call the Hotel Registration line at 602-997-5900 and be sure
to tell them you are part of the GM Roadster Club to insure you get the
contracted rate.
Once you make your reservation please RSVP for the Event here:

The Prescott Regional event was great fun. It was wonderful to have so many familiar faces from California attend the event. We heard about the event from Tim, and signed up on the website so that we could attend. Some of us left early to visit relatives in AZ while others left on Friday morning to arrive in Prescott in the early afternoon.
We found the Comfort Inn around 4:00 and were greeted by members of the Phoenix and Fresno chapters who had already arrived. We checked in and went to the parking lot to see who else was there and await the arrival of other members. After relaxing in the parking lot and checking out the newest modifications on everyone's cars, we adjourned to the extremely large Jacuzzi area and relaxed with cool drinks and chips and salsa. More folks got to the Inn and we were beginning to get hungry so we headed into Prescott proper for dinner at the Gurley Street Grill. It is supposed to be one of the top rated restaurants in Prescott. We were taken out onto the back patio which we practically filled. They had two long tables waiting for us.
We met new members from Prescott and made friends with other people who were new since our last trip to Tombstone. With dinner over, we headed back to the Inn to call it a night. We would be leaving bright and early on Saturday to head down to Phoenix.

OK, so the weekend didn't go without incident, but even though one of our participants managed to "smash" their front end a bit, at least no one was hurt, and there is one SKY owner who can now justify upgrading to a cool new aftermarket front end for his roadster.
This weekends' festivities included three major events.
FRIDAY NIGHT AT THE STRIP CLUB - The welcome gathering at the Gas Lamp Strip Club included about 35 people who enjoyed dinner together. The "Strip Club" is a steak house famouse for their New York Strip Steak, and we reserved the "Champaign Room" in the back for our gathering.
SATURDAY COAST RIDE - The coast ride left from Jolly Roger restaurant in Oceanside at 9:30 AM, and meandered along the coast ending at Seaport Village in downtown San Diego. The highlights of the trip included a 43 car line-up along "the Strand" in Oceanside, a group photo at the Torey Pines Glider Port, and bluff-view drive out to La Jolla Cove. With a couple of cars coming and going (and occassionally getting separated) along the way, we had a total of 45 roadsters for most of the ride.
SUNDAY TEMECULA RIDE - Our Sunday ride included a photo stop out at the property of one of the Phoenix members who's home burned down in the fires out in Fallbrook, and then we dropped by Kappasphere for a tour of their facilities. From there, we split into two groups, about 12 cars going to downtown Temecula for a walking tour, and another 17 heading out to visit the wineries.
for more photos, view our club photo gallery...

Well folks, we had a great run to Vegas Nationals. Thursday morning Jim & Maxine, Nighia & Mi and I headed north for a nice ride to Vegas with a stop at Barstow Station, that was a cool tourist trap, and there were a number of cool bikes headed to laughlin for the river run. We met Chris & Micky on the way and they joined us for the rest of the ride into Vegas. Friday morning we meet at the Stratoshpere parking lot, got registered and just hung out with others as the arrived. There ended up over 100 cars from all parts of the country. I have yet to down load any photos, still learning, but they are posted on the sky forum and on the sky-sol web site. There were some really cool mods, and a couple of V-8 Solstices. There were several vendors with really cool products. Some really great rides were also on tap. The Red Rock canyon, Valley of Fire and Mt Charleston runs were really fun, but the strip run was awesome! 100+ cars going down the strip together was a highlight for me! Saturday night we had a great banquet with some really nice raffle prizes awarded. The money from the raffle went to the make-a-wish foundation. We had a nice showing of cars from San Diego, Steve & Silka, Jim & Ellen, Bill & Karen, Jim & Maxine, and Figure this one out, Nighia his wife Mi and Daughter Nicole came up!
I think it is safe to say that we all had a great time!!
After the Vegas run I Met my Lovely Bride Lori in Palm Springs. She had a conference there so I just went to hang out with her. During the day while she was in meetings, I spent the part of the days downtown doing a one man car show! It was cool to park on the main street, then get coffee and sit were I could see my car and then just watch people as they passed by. I quit counting the number of people stopping, commenting and taking pictures of my really cool car!
After a few days in Palm Springs we headed to Seligman AZ for the Route 66 fun run. We met with 4 other Sky's from Pheonix and had a Blast! There were over 900 cars, every type and vintage from as far away as England! We traveled "THE MOTHER ROAD" for about 50 miles to Kingman, that was cool, many people on the side of the road, waving, honking and cheering us on! Talk about a parade!! Once in Kingman there was a Hugh car show! We didn't park in the main "car show" area, but it soon filled up so we were joined by a bunch of really cool cars. Alot of people were checking out our fine rides! Again many questions and photos taken. Sunday morning it was on the Topock Az again on the old route 66. I wonder how those in the 30's & 40's enjoyed that road, with no power steering, power brakes or air conditioning? Not to mention the steep hillsides and drop offs with no guard rails? A cool town we went through was Oatman Az. It was an old mining town, now a tourist trap but a really cool one. They had Burro's from the mining day's still in the area, that was cool to see.
We will have to make the route 66 run on our own one day, when it is cooler!
Again Photo's of Vegas are on the sky forum and at www.sky-sol.com
