On Sunday, February 12, 2012 10 Kappas (5 Sky & 5 Sol) got together regardless of the weather! Is started gloomy, cold and drizzling, but eventually the sun came out and made our day for us to drive topless! We had a wonderful coastal drive. On Sunday, April 15, 2012, another fine run, and were treated to outstanding topless sunny weather in the 70's. We started just north of San Diego to tour Falkner Winery then cruise Old Town Temecula twice before reserved seating for lunch at Sorro’s Mediterranean Grill, table for 20 in the outdoor shaded patio, nice! South & North meet spots were set up. A total of 11 vehicles showed (Sky*7 Sol*4) and caravanned North on I-15 toward their destinations. A first time Solstice owner joined us, which had just purchased his vehicle a few weeks earlier and also his "First Time" driving for several hours with a group. Not to many automobile experiences match that overall feeling, fall in line, follow, Kappas in front, behind, along side yours all day, you have to love it! Also, Randy visiting from Arizona joined us in this unique driving experience. By the smiles at the conclusion of the day, the Kappa Family headed their separate ways with another sack full of memories to hold us over until the next time.

On Sunday, May 12, 2012, Kappas took a day trip to San Juan Capistrano. We had a total of 14 vehicles (8 Sky & 6 Sol). We caravanned on Del Dios Highway for some fun & twisty roads and eventually had to get on the freeway to get to our destination. We visited the beautiful Mission with a guided tour and had lunch at "Sarducci's Capistrano Depot." After lunch we caravanned and drove scenic Ortega Highway. Can't beat a great day with awesome vehicles and company!
Solar Eclipse Event 5/20/2012 - The Sky and Sol family reunited once again! We had a
3:30 pm scheduled dinner at Beachside Bar & Grill in Encinitas and sat in the outdoor
back patio. 30 members showed with a total of 9 Skys and 2 Solstices. Joining us for the day - Martin Scott, his wife Rose and Rich from Arizona. Martin and Rich are 2 of our 3 founders of the Sky & Sol Club; also, Nick Thom representing LA Chapter. After a few hours of great company and food we headed out to our chosen viewing and picture spot for the Solar Eclipse. We drove approximately 3 miles to San Elijo Ave (a street parallel to Highway 101) above the train tracks where we could clearly see the ocean with no obstructions. We backed in our 11 Kappas along the side of the street. We took group photos and waited patiently for the phenomenon. Unfortunately, the overcast weather overpowered and all we were left to see was some sunshine reflecting off the shore. After a 45-minute photo shoot and mingling, our Kappa family headed their own separate ways back home. This concludes another fun and memorable chapter in our Sky and Sol lives.

Deer Park
Winery & Auto Museum
San Diego Roadsters would like to thank Sheena & Julius for hosting the Kappa Picnic Auto Museum Tour 6/24/2012 and to all those who participated. By the perma grins and conversations throughout the day we were some happy campers. Weather was perfect, nice driving all day with Kappa Family and not be hammered by the wind and noise or using tunnel vision concentration needed on freeways, cruising speeds allowed one to hear birds singing, converse with passenger without having to shout, hear and talk on the walkie talkie, tidbits gathered among the conversations at each pit stop add the picnic.

November 2012
Thanksgiving Drive
Our sunny San Diego keeps allowing for wonderful drives topless! This was a special drive, since long-term members Ryan and Anna are leaving us soon for a new adventure in Portland, Oregon. They will be missed, but we know that they will build a new Sky/Sol family up north and wish them the very best! We met on Sunday, November 4th, at the Escondido Westfield Mall. We had a good turnout, a total of 13 roadsters (9 Sky & 4 Sol). We took off at 10 AM. We headed towards Valley Center. We made a stop at “Bates Nut Farm” to go see the Christmas craft fair. We spent 1 hr there. We got back in our roadsters and had a blast on “Mesa Grande Road.” We made a second stop at “Dudley’s Bakery” – picked-up a pie and bread. From there, we headed to lunch for some great Italian food in Poway. We wish everyone a great Thanksgiving!
